Do, What!?
Cleaning the vacuum is an important part of your housekeeping role. A vacuum is an expensive and important machine for every home. If it is clogged with dust and hair it will not suck up debris very well. By keeping the vacuum clean you are going to be able to finish your floor cleaning quicker and with less effort.
You can take these steps to clean out most vacuums. Remember, never wash or submerge any electronic parts of the vacuum.
Step One – Gather cleaning items

Fill a sink with warm water and gather a coin, scissors, a pipe cleaner (if available) and a grout brush or toothbrush.
Step Two – Take apart vacuum

Take apart the vacuum. You can immediately submerge the canister and filter in the warm water. Make sure to open the base of the canister so that the water gets into the lining of the base.
Step Three – Take apart the head of the vacuum

Use a thin coin (like a 10 cent piece) to turn the lock on the side of the head. You can then slip the rotator brush out.

The rotator brush will usually be wrapped in hair and other debris.

Use your scissors to cut off the hair and debris that are wrapped around the rotator brush. Make sure to get all of them.

Use the coin to unlock the base lock which holds the bottom of the head on. You can now clean inside the head of the vacuum.

There is usually a lot of dust and debris stuck in this part of the vacuum. You can soak it in the soapy water to give it a clean.

The head of the vacuum is always very dirty. You can lightly submerge just the clear part of the head of the vacuum in water and then use the grout brush to clean. Do not fully submerge the whole head of the vacuum. Use the grout brush to clean all of the dirt off the inside of the head.

After giving all of the pieces a clean you can put them in the water. Remember, only submerge the clear part of the vacuum head (not the electronic part).
